Beginning with the Spring 2015 semester, the library teaching and learning team at Virginia Tech is piloting new methods and pedagogies for instructional engagement with the First-year Writing Program (ENGL 1106 and H1204). In strategically experimenting with instructional approaches, we seek to foster increasingly effective learning experiences for our students, build on the sustainability and scalability of our instruction program, and further develop relationships with writing instructors. Our goal is to engage with 90% of the ENGL 1106 course sections. As coordinator of this program, my goals are also to develop communication among librarians and instructors involved with First-year Writing and to gather data that will help us to make decisions going forward.
